love tenfold turns 2

And just like that, it's September.  I thought I'd post my first entry this month on the day of my second blogiversary!

Happy Two Years, Love Tenfold!

Although my entries have decreased quite a bit this year, I still enjoy blogging very much and I hope to keep it up for as long as I can.  I commend those moms who can juggle multiple kids, work or stay-at-home and still manage to produce good material every day.  I need to get on your level!

Thank you for following along, and hope you'll stick around.

love,
Aissa

YHL | West Elm Dallas

This Saturday, I had the opportunity to meet Sherry and John Petersik of Young House Love.  If you are a fan of DIY, I'm sure you've heard of them before!  I came across their blog a little over two years ago and have been following them ever since.  In some way, they influenced me to start my own blog!  They recently released their very own book earlier this month and have been going around the country on a book tour.  I'm so happy they stopped by the Big D!

Paul accompanied me since he didn't want to leave his prego wife in line for hours (I owe him, big time!).  The book signing was supposed to be from 11am - 1pm, but the line was out the door of West Elm!  Here are a few pictures that I took to keep me entertained.

Ok this is obviously out of focus, but they were handing out hot cocoa for the people in line.  It tasted REALLY good!

They were also giving out cookies - lots of it!  I finally snagged myself one of these sugar cookies.  So sweet and appropriate!

12:45 rolls in and we're still outside.  Luckily, Sherry and John stayed until they saw everyone who came out to see them.

Aaaand, we're in!

I loved all the festive pieces they had at West Elm.  It made me a little sad that I couldn't decorate our own house this year though =(

Stalker pic.  Almost there!

Three hours later, it was my turn.  Here's my picture with the lovely couple!  The first thing Sherry asked was if I was having a boy.  She's even more gorgeous in person!  John told Paul that he just wore the same shirt yesterday.  Hahaha!  (Do you see an uncanny resemblance?  When Paul looked at this picture, he said that they look like they could be related.  Someone on Instagram even made a comment that he looked like Paul.  Distant cousins perhaps???)  They were very sweet and so down-to-earth, as I imagined (now if only I can convince them to be my BFFs...kidding...sort of).  I applaud them for all their hard work that they put in to get to where they are today.  They are truly an inspiration.  I started reading their book as soon as we got home.  It's full of really great ideas that I can't wait to try in our new house!

Did any bloggers out there go out and see S + J when they visited your city?

1st blogiversary

  {via}

I can't believe it's been one year since I started this little blog!  I'm actually surprised I was able to keep this up for this long.  One of the things that Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, did during her search to find happiness was to "launch a blog" (thanks to Tincy for the book recommendation!).  Keeping a blog was a little challenging, but each post was very rewarding.  It's nice to look back and see how much life has changed in just one year.

Blogging has introduced me to so many others who share the same interests as me, and I hope I've at least inspired someone out there (hello?).  Thank you for allowing me to share bits of my life with you and for sticking around.  Here's to documenting another year.

PS.  New to blogging?  Check out these useful tips for beginning bloggers from Geraldine at The Everywhereist.  Her blog is pretty funny too!

summer love + my 100th post!

Happy June everyone!  Although summer doesn't officially start until June 20th, I start celebrating the beginning of summer on the first of June.  Here are a few reasons why I love this season, and what I'm looking forward to in the next few months.

Fashion.  Summer fashion is so fresh and fun.  My summer clothes are way more exciting than my winter ones.  Bring on the shorts, skirts and dresses!  I usually live in flip flops when I'm not at work.  If I had a choice, I'd wear them all day, every day!  The key to summer fashion is = less is more.  But please, keep your pants on!

Maui 2011

Vacations.  Every year, we try and do one trip over the summer.  We usually go someplace tropical where we can enjoy the beach with some cold alcoholic beverage.  Jamaica was our first vacation together, and that's where Paul proposed!  On our honeymoon, we went to Riviera Maya, Mexico, and just last year, we went to Maui, my dream come true!  This summer, we're skipping out on the beaches and going to Belgium and Ireland.  This will be my very first time ever being on European soil.  I can't wait!

Weddings.  Which leads me to weddings.  Summer is the time for weddings, and I love them.  We're going to Ireland to be a part of my cousin/best friend's wedding - in a castle!  We're also attending our second wedding of the year tomorrow.  Love is in the air!

Celebrations.  This month, we're celebrating Paul and Bailey's birthdays.  It's also our second Wedding Anniversary on June 19th.  In August, we're going to Missouri for my sister's white coat ceremony, as she starts Med School.  Oh, and Fourth of July calls for some fireworks.  Looove them!

School's out for the Summer.  Meaning less cars on my way to work, meaning I can sleep in just a few more minutes in the morning!

Soaking up the Sun.  I would love to go to the beach, but laying out by the community pool will have to do.  Or the backyard with a good book, Bailey by my side, and Paul fanning me. =)  I'd love to see sunsets more often, like this one.

I'm sure I've got plenty of other reasons why I love summer so much, but that's the best I can do for now!

And what a better way to start a new month with my 100th POST!   I hope to keep this thing going for 100 more.   I hope you stick around for the ride!

Cheers to the freakin' weekend - Rihanna

hello blogging world!

I finally did it! I started a blog! After months of blog stalking, pinning like crazy and email convos with my cousin/bff about our blog ideas, we are now officially bloggers! I think my husband has pretty much had it with this blog talk.  He even helped me with my blog name so I could get started!

This blog is to document my house projects, old/new recipes I’ve tried, fashion trends, books I’ve read, new music I’m currently dancing (and singing) to in the car, our latest travels and other random things I can’t think of at the moment. I hope to share my dreams for our young family and show you a small glimpse of our life. Happy reading, and nice to meet you!
