a diaper bag, made well

I prolonged buying a diaper bag because I wanted something that was stylish and didn't scream, "Hey, I'm a new Mom!"  After searching far and wide, I ended up with the Transport Tote by Madewell. 

I've been seeing it on this girl's blog lately and I thought that it was so big and versatile, surely it would be perfect as a diaper bag!  For my birthday, Paul let me pick out a diaper bag, so I took the risk and purchased this online.  I even got my initials monogrammed.

 
This tote bag is very spacious.  It holds an extra burp cloth and my diaper changing kit, complete with extra diapers and baby wipes.  It even stores a small clutch where I keep my wallet, car keys, etc. and still has plenty of room for other things, such as bottles, a light sweater, an Ipad, and shopping bags (hehe).  The only drawback is that it only has a small pocket on one side, and it doesn't come with a long strap to wear it across your body. 

I've also considered this Ikabag on Etsy which is probably just as comparable.

I even ventured out to the nearest Coach Factory Outlet and bought their diaper bag, but returned it after one week because I couldn't handle the "C"s that can be seen from a mile away.  Please don't mind my sweats.

 

I've been hauling this around everywhere I go.  This is something that I can use even after babies and will not go out of style.  This would also be the perfect carry-on when traveling.  And just to let you know, most of my purses are from Ross.  This is the first purse I've ever purchased over $50 so this was a definite splurge, and a thrill!  I just hope this doesn't start a new shopping trend with me, otherwise our bank account (and Paul) will be very upset.

fashion's night out

Last night, my Mom and I decided to check out Fashion's Night Out at a nearby mall.  This was our first time ever attending one of these events.  I think next year, we need to plan ahead and try and go to the one in Dallas' NorthPark mall which is a lot bigger.

Neiman Marcus held fashion shows every hour starting at 6pm.  I was a little sad that we missed the runway show for couture canines at 6, but we did make it to the one at 7 where they showcased the Top Trends for Fall.  Here are somewhat decent photos that I was able to snap with my iPhone. 

I felt a little underdressed sitting next to these classy ladies.  Lucky for us though, this was a smaller event than others going on around Dallas, so we were able to snag some seats in the second row!

According to Neiman Marcus, we'll be seeing a lot GREEN this fall, in all shades.  And the new neutral?  NAVY!  I couldn't be happier with this color palette!

I love the pop of lime greens in these outfits.  I also noticed a lot of layering going on, but I don't think I can pull it off.

There's a lot of influence from menswear (or borrowed-from-the-boys as they like to call it).  I love the tailored look with the clean lines.  "Think Prince", they said.  Although I wasn't sure if they meant Prince the Artist, or a royal, like Prince William when he's all dressed up.  I saw lots of very bold, beautiful, printed fabric, statement handbags and large, gold jewelry. 

Besides the fashion shows, they had other things going on.  They served cocktails, cupcakes and tacos for free as you walk around the store.  Umm, yesss!  They also had this fashion sketcher on site.  Pretty talented!

And they had a photobooth!  We weren't ready for the first pic, and no, I was not drinking an alcoholic beverage.  It was Jelly Belly flavored and oh so yummy.  And speaking of belly, don't mind my growing belly.  I look super huge in these pictures, but I think it's the dress (denial).

colored pants

So, my colored pants obsession continues.  I bought these sea green pants at Zara (similar) for $36.95 a while back, and just remembered to wear them last week.  A perfect shade for spring!

What a sweet addition to my collection so far.  I found the ones below for $19.99 each at TJ Maxx.  I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on them in case they were just a phase.



I did find yellow ones at Ann Taylor, but they were a little on the neon side.  My sister said that it's too bright, and would probably not be worth it for the price.  I'm also in search of some pastel pink ones, but I'm very particular on the fit, since most of these colored pants do not hide a single cellulite!

what's the story, wishbone

Look what came in the mail yesterday!  I ordered it on Etsy from the Petitor shop.  It came in this lovely doily packaging, which I love since our whole wedding was pretty much doily-ed out!  This wishbone necklace was made popular by Jennifer Aniston when she wore it in the movie, "He's Just Not That Into You."  The original retailed for $700.  I got my version at a discount on Cyber Monday for $23!

It's small enough to layer with another necklace, or can be worn by itself.  I've started a collection of everyday necklaces with simple pendants like this one, and most of them were purchased on Etsy.  I love wearing necklaces, and I like to keep it simple for work.  This is a perfect statement piece and easy to match with any outfit.  Hopefully it brings me good luck too!

new girl

I finally watched New Girl for the first time last night, and it was so worth staying up until midnight.  I can't believe I waited this long!  I've only heard great things about it, and I'm so glad I'm all caught up.  Actually, I only started recording halfway through episode 3 because I missed the premiere.  Still need to find episodes 1 and 2 on Hulu. 

The cast is hilarious!  I've never had a roommate besides Paul, so I can sort of live the experience of having guy roommates through this show (and by the way, having guy roommates would have been out of the question with my parents).  And I'm adding Zooey Dechanel to my style icons list, along with Kate Middleton and Reese Witherspoon, just to name a few.  She makes me want to cut my bangs and wear blue colored contacts.  Well, colored contacts, not so much, but bangs, yes!  She's so adorable, and quite a talented lady.  Still can't believe she was Jovie in Elf.  She looks way better as a brunette.  I loved her in the Cotton commercial.  Check out her stylebook here.

So if you haven't jumped on the band wagon yet, please do!  There are a lot of new shows out there that I can't even keep up with, but this would be a good one to add to your DVR list!
